Conn Selmer Educational Clinician

Steven Hendricks is currently director of bands at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He also serves as a judge, clinician, guest conductor and consultant for band programs across the country.

 

From 1990 to 2018 Mr. Hendricks was the director of bands at Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah, where his groups performed at multiple prestigious international events, including the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, the Tournament of Roses Parade, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

 

During his tenure at Davis High Mr. Hendricks was recognized with the Superior Accomplishment award and the Outstanding High School Music Educator award from the Utah Music Educators Association. He received eight citations of excellence from the National Band Association, and in 2015 his band program was selected as the western division NBA Blue Ribbon Award Winner. He was the 2017 Davis School District Teacher of the Year, the 2018 Utah Teacher of the Year First Runner Up, a recipient of the Jon M. Huntsman Award for Excellence in Education, and a recipient of the Sorenson Legacy Award for Excellence in Arts Education. In 2021 he was inducted into the Utah Music Educators Association Hall of Fame.

 

As a writer, Mr. Hendricks has published many music education articles and maintains a blog on his website, intuneinstitute.com. He has also published two books, Life Lessons in the Band Room and A Band Geek’s Diary: The Upbeat, that are available on Amazon.
