Missouri State University Music Program Renews As A Conn-Selmer School

Missouri State University has entered into a second of five consecutive agreements with Conn-Selmer for new methods class and marching battery instruments. Recognizing the value of the program for the entire music department, MSU will continue to enjoy the economic and musical benefits throughout the ten year program.
"I can't begin to tell you how gratifying, encouraging and uplifting the Conn-Selmer Program has been for our University Bands! It has affected our students in a multitude of ways putting them in awe at the amount of top, quality instruments and equipment suddenly available to them. One huge benefit to the program has been raising their pride in performances to a whole new level and touching them emotionally in the care and respect for the beautiful instruments entrusted to their care!”, said Jerry Hoover, Director of Bands. "Conn-Selmer has obviously assumed the leadership role in the music field for supporting and promoting music education in our schools. I look forward to your next creative and ground-breaking program as you continue to forge ahead of the rest of the industry”.
“Becoming A Conn-Selmer School highlights each school’s commitment to providing its students opportunities for optimum performance as well as for advanced music education training”, says Grant Johnston, Marketing Communications Manager for Conn-Selmer. “We begin by understanding the vision for the music school or department as a whole and we work hard to develop a custom proposal that translates that vision into a very practical and financially attractive program. It’s obvious that students who attend these schools continue to enjoy an advantage in both performance and education.”
The Department of Music at Missouri State University serves as an agent of the University for the stimulation and motivation of creative and professional work in music. Students are provided with many opportunities to develop artistic talents for cultural or professional reasons through music classes, private instruction, and participation in group (and solo) performances.
The Conn-Selmer School Partnership supports the short and long term growth of music performance and education programs by recognizing a high level of academic and musical excellence at qualified educational institutions such as Missouri State. This program increases the institution’s national/international profile as a music school, allowing it to recruit more high-quality students, secure more grants and secure a long-term position as a leader in music and music education.
