Citrus High School Becomes a Conn-Selmer All American School
Citrus High School in Inverness, Florida, is the newest school to be designated a Conn-Selmer All American School. “By utilizing an in-kind grant from Conn-Selmer Inc., the school was able to purchase a wide range of new instruments to enhance the school owned inventory,” said Grant Johnston, Marketing Communications Manager with Conn-Selmer. “Our All American School program assists in providing the resources for the students to learn superior skills and be better prepared for success in music.”
The Citrus High School Band is a very active part of the Inverness Community. The band consistently earns Superior Ratings at Florida Bandmaster Association Music Performance Assessments, as well as Florida Marching Band Coalition Events. CHS is a school that takes great pride in the Performing Arts, boasting a full instrumental curriculum with Marching, Concert, and Jazz Bands as well as chamber ensembles and a String Orchestra. They also have nationally recognized Chorus and Drama programs, and frequently combine efforts for Musical Productions and community events.
"The Citrus High School Band is very proud to be the newest addition to the All American School family,” said Brian York, Director of Bands at Citrus High School. “We have already received a few of our new instruments and the students were thrilled when they got to open the packages. Having access to new, high quality, instruments is going to make a world of difference to my students and our band program. I greatly look forward to the years to come as we build our inventory and replace some of the outdated, falling apart instruments that our students have been playing for over twenty years."
The Conn-Selmer All American School program recognizes the most outstanding high school instrumental programs in America. With the special relationship established with these schools, the Conn-Selmer program assists the school in owning new, quality instruments in order to improve the quality of their programs. The six year program helps to establish the school system as a leader in music and music education.
