Artist's BiographyAllen Jacobson is a Trombonist/Vocalist/Composer/Arranger/Educator who has performed throughout Canada and internationally for many years. During the course of his career he has established a reputation as an outstanding, creative performer and educator.
Originally from Canada, Allen began touring Europe in the mid 1990s before settling in Frankfurt in 1999. He quickly established himself as a dynamic musical force in the creative - performance and educational scenes.
He is know for his creative and versatile artistry and has performed with Richie Beirach, Dave Liebman, Conte Candoli, Keith Copeland, Lee Konitz, Lew Tabakin, Kenny Wheeler, Bobby Shew, Harry Beckett, Ack van Ryooen, John Tchicai, Christophe Dell, Karl Berger, Wolfgang Puschnig, Tony Lakatos, Mikaya Nshoko, John Edwards, Gunther Lenz, Ivo Vander Borght, The Frankfurt Jazz Big Band, HR Big Band, among many other artists and ensembles.
As a Conductor and Soloist Allen Jacobson has performed with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Baden Baden Philharmonic, the European Philharmonie and other Orchestras and Philharmonies with repertoire ranging from Anderson, Berstein to Ellington and Gershwin. He has conducted New Music concerts and ensembles with Composer Alvin Curran and is in demand as both Soloist and Conductor with Contemporary Jazz Orchestras and Ensembles.
Mr. Jacobson has performed in a wide variety of musical contexts including Theatrical, Symphonic, Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz, Big Band/Jazz Orchestra, Modern Dance, Free Improvisation and numerous others and has performed at Jazz and World Music Festivals throughout Canada and in Europe, Scandinavia and Asia.
As an Educator, Mr. Jacobson has many years of experience as an adjudicator, providing workshops/seminars and in private teaching. He has provided workshops/seminars to schools, Colleges and Universities throughout Western Canada and Germany. He currently teaches Jazz Trombone, Vocals and Ensembles at the Hochshule fur Musik Rheinland-Pfalz, Mainz, and Jazz Trombone, Vocals, Improvisation, Ensembles and Big Band at the Frankfurt Musik Hochschule (University of Performing Arts). Mr. Jacobson has also been on the faculty of the Peter - Cornelius Conservatory (Mainz) and as Visiting Professor at the Mannheim University of Performing Arts.
Allen Jacobson is the founder and Artistic Director of JAZZFEST (a four day Jazz Festival at the Frankfurt University of Performing Arts), the FCBC (Frankfurt Creative Brass Collective), The Entropic Ensemble and is developing Concert-Educational-Festivals and Events in Germany and Canada.
