Artist's BiographyJohn McKimmey was the first university student to perform William D. Cole\'s transcription of the Copland Clarinet Concerto with a wind ensemble. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval School of Music and Western Washington University. He taught in public school for 25 years. He has taught 4000 people to play musical instruments. His private students have been first chair players in The Anchorage Youth Symphony and the First Chair Clarinetist for The All Northwest Band; which includes musicians from Alaska,Washington, Oregon, Idaho , Wyoming and Montana. John has played professionally for 40 years. His professional experience includes: Principal Clarinetist and Tenor Saxophonist in military bands, member and featured soloist with The Yakima Symphony, performed at The International Dixieland Jubilee in Sacramento, 7 years featured soloist with The Anchorage Jazz Ensemble, performed in New Orleans with Eddie Bayard, Otis Bazoon, and Roy Liberto. Performed Jazz Tenor Saxophone and Clarinet as the featured soloist for the Flip Wilson, Rich Little, and Bob Hope Shows. 4 years featured soloist with The Young At Heart Big Band, 1 year featured soloist with The After Six Orchestra. Currently featured soloist with The Swingin Ravens.
