Noa Even is an Ohio-based saxophonist dedicated to the performance of contemporary music. She regularly collaborates with other artists to create music that speaks to audiences, sparking deeper interest in the arts of today.
As a member of Ogni Suono Saxophone Duo, Noa has performed in Southeast Asia, Europe, Canada and throughout the United States. The duo was awarded a 2012-2013 CMS Yamaha-in-Residence Fellowship to present outreach programs in Iowa City, IA. Ogni Suono’s debut album, Invisible Seams, features commissioned works. Noa’s saxophone and drum set duo, Patchwork, collaborates with composers to build an eclectic body of new music. Formed in 2013, the duo has presented new music in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, New York, and Cleveland.
Noa was a prizewinner at the 3rd Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition in 2011 and the MTNA National Young Artist Competition in 2009. She has performed as a soloist with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and Bowling Green State University’s Philharmonia. Noa has also presented solo recitals in San Francisco, Tel Aviv, and Paris. The most surreal musical event she has participated in is Act 2 of Matthew Barney’s River of Fundament, a film piece involving saxophone quartets on motorboats zooming down Detroit's River Rouge.
As a guest lecturer, Noa has given master classes at numerous schools, such as Peabody Conservatory, Israel Conservatory, Pennsylvania State University, West Virginia University, University of Houston, Cleveland State University, Shenandoah Conservatory and Western University in Ontario.
Noa serves on the faculty of Kent State University as Assistant Professor of Saxophone and is a doctoral candidate in the contemporary music program at Bowling Green State University. She obtained a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s in performance and music education from Northwestern University. Additionally, Noa studied in Paris at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Boulogne-Billancourt. Her primary instructors include John Sampen, Debra Richtmeyer, Jean-Michel Goury, and Fred Hemke.
