We have an opening within our Human Resource Department for a Payroll Manager. This position reports to our Director of Human Resources. The candidate in this role will lead the payroll function which involves high volume processing, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll remittances. Ensure compliance requirements are met through sound processes, systems, and procedures, including solid internal controls within an environment including the appropriate segregation of duties. Comply with federal and state laws and regulations applicable to the areas of labor and payroll. Perform on-going analysis of the functions to identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness, while leading the setup and streamlining of payroll functions across the business. The successful candidate must reside within a commutable distance to Conn-Selmer Corporate office located in Elkhart, IN.
Provides backup for bi-weekly payroll.
Review all PCN maintenance and activity logs received from Human Resources per pay period.
Call center for payroll error resolutions. Submits work orders and project requests to IT.
Reviews ledgers, accounts, and data to ensure cross-checks and balances are in place and systems are functioning as designed. Reconciles accounts to supporting systems and audits data for accuracy.
Submission of 401K contributions weekly, participate in annual 401K benefit audit and year-end 401K Non-Discrimination testing.
Responsible for master files setups to include job, earnings, and deduction codes.
Responsible for specific journal entries at month end.
Responsible for commission monthly payments and communication to reps.
Responsible for annual worker’s compensation audit.
Archive all payroll records in accordance to Conn-Selmer, Inc. record retention policy.
Audits, reconciles, and ensures payroll data, related filings and year-end documents are accurate and meet compliance requirements. Maintains appropriate supporting data as required and ensures timely processing occurs.
Manages and leads corporate Payroll Specialists.
Perform other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
5+ years of progressive leadership and “hands-on” experience in Payroll and/or General Accounting preferred. Paylocity and MAPICS AS400 experience is a plus.
3+ years of processing payroll of 500+ employees, related taxes, garnishments, and child support withholding exposure.
Proficient in Excel, Outlook and Word.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent math skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
