Conn-Selmer currently has an opening for a Process Engineer in one of our Elkhart facilities. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager. In this position you will implement and control optimized manufacturing processes to ensure consistent productivity. You will work closely with the Plant Manager utilizing developed manufacturing processes to support the reduction of manufacturing cost while increasing productivity. This person will be based at our Elkhart manufacturing facility located in Elkhart, IN. The successful candidate must reside within a commutable distance to Elkhart, IN.
Primary Responsibilities
Determine operations required to produce products and develop processes to ensure our quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met.
Analyze production processes, procedures, tooling and equipment to determine capacity to perform at required level.
Develop and implement LEAN work cells and material flow.
Actively participate in Kaizen support efforts.
Process improvements that result in realized cost savings.
Provide expertise in areas of machining, material flow and process flow.
Develop innovative ideas and alternative methods to be cost competitive.
Construct RFE’s with ROI.
Assist with value stream mapping and utilization calculations.
Calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and drive gains.
Working with Quality to determine, eliminate and sustain root cause and train operators on new processes or equipment.
Experience designing and developing fixtures and tooling for manufacturing effectiveness.
SolidWorks experience.
CNC and Tooling experience if possible along with tooling and fixture design.
Review, calculate & maintain material & labor cost for BOMs & routings.
Understanding of AS400 and Infor system.
Analyze & plan efficient production work flow utilizing best practice methods & engineered time standards.
Concept of Standard Operating Procedures & Operational Control Plans.
Qualification
4 year engineering degree (mechanical and industrial)
3 to 5 years’ experience in manufacturing preferably in metal fabrication, wood fabrication or machine intense environment.
Demonstrated ability to analyze Takt times for improved efficiency and utilization.
Mechanical acumen. (hands-on knowledge of mechanics)
Strong communication skills, written and oral.
Proven experience in LEAN and Six Sigma techniques and practices.
CNC experience and PLC programming a plus.
Essential Functions
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Requires periods of sedentary work, daily standing and walking on shop floor.
Requires repetitive upper body movement – keyboard and monitor use.
