We have an opening within our Information Technology (IT) team for a Programmer Analyst. This position can work remote part-time to our Corporate Headquarters based in Elkhart, Indiana and reports to the Director of IT.
The role is responsible for performing both systems analysis and computer programming activities. The Programmer Analyst plans and coordinates the development, production, maintenance, and modification of the computer software using systems analysis and programming language expertise.
Consults and interacts with department management and staff personnel as required throughout the corporation to define information systems software requirements in standard systems analysis format.
Develops systems and program flowcharts per IT policy and procedure to document the input format and media, processing and interactive logic, output reports and displays, database requirements, and online and batch routines.
Develops program documentation per IT policy and procedure such that any competent programmer or analyst can quickly understand and support any software program.
Prepares accurate timely project progress reports providing clear, concise descriptions of activities and progress.
Develops and maintains an ever improving skill in the areas of systems analysis and programming.
Makes a concerted effort to attend seminars, courses, workshops and other events, which would provide an opportunity to enhance programming knowledge and skill. Additionally, makes use of online training.
Develops user orientation and training documentation and tools in conjunction with and under the guidance of the training and education function.
Strictly follows the policies and procedures for developing, testing, and implementing software across the existing environments and databases to assure minimal impact on users and production.
Assists in user training and certification and assures that users are well qualified to assume responsibility for a system before release from the prototype stage.
Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Five to Seven years of related experience with state-of-the-art software tools in an iSeries / System i environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to work with top-level executives and managers.
Excellent Planning and Analytical skills
Broad understanding of business practices and operations, and of management techniques and methodologies.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of systems analysis, and current software development fundamentals.
RPG, SQL and XML programming experience required.
Experience with Infor XA (MAPICS) ERP package, Integrator, and System Link Tools desired
Additional experience preferred: Java, PHP languages; Business Intelligence (Data Warehouse/Data Modeling/Data CUBE); Product configurator maintenance and setup knowledge; Conversions to a SaaS environment / cloud based computing
Able to sit for extended periods of time
Acute hand mobility and eyesight to work at computer for long periods of time
Flexible work location is supported, but must be able to be in Corporate office location in Elkhart when required
