Elkhart, IN—April 21, 2017 – The Conn-Selmer Division of Education added Jimtown High School, located in Elkhart, Indiana, to its growing list of institutions who are part of the Conn-Selmer School Partnership Program. The program gives the instrumental music department access to discounted instrument purchases and leasing, Conn-Selmer Educational Clinicians, instrument inventory assessment, and scholarships for directors to attend Conn-Selmer Institute - the preeminent annual event focused on advancing music education in schools.
More specifically, Conn-Selmer partnered with Jimtown’s Director of Bands, Kathy Baughman, to facilitate this large scale project. “I wanted to support my students and for them to have quality instruments to play on every day,” said Ms. Baughman. “This partnership would not have succeeded without the active involvement of our Band Boosters, Parents, and School Board members who understand how important it is to support music education in our school.” Many other Baugo community members including Jim DuBois, Superintendent, Jimtown Principals, Jeff Ziegler and Scott Kovatch, and Jimtown Education Director, Carol Deak also dedicated their time and energy to see this important project to fruition.
Conn-Selmer Managing Director of the Division of Education, Michael Kamphuis said, “We are excited Jimtown High School has become a Conn-Selmer School Partner and encourage the Jimmes to take full advantage of the benefits available to help sustain and grow their band program." “We could not be more proud to be partnering with a district so close to our factories and look forward to many more years of collaboration.”
