Conn-Selmer Clinician and CSI Faculty Member receives Sudler Trophy

Kansas State Band Director, Dr. Frank Tracz, honored by The John Philip Sousa Foundation

Elkhart, IN — Conn-Selmer Clinician and Conn-Selmer Institute (CSI) Faculty member, Dr. Frank Tracz, was awarded the Sudler Trophy by The John Philip Sousa Foundation last weekend. This prestigious award is only bestowed every two years and Kansas State University is now part of an elite group of only 30 bands to obtain this honor since its inception in 1982.

K-State, where Dr. Tracz has been the Director of Bands since 1993, is also a member of the Conn-Selmer School Program. Through this partnership K-State Marching Band members have access to Conn-Selmer instruments and the opportunity to network with our world-class clinicians and guest artists.

“Dr. Tracz is an outstanding educator and valued member of the Conn-Selmer family,” said John Stoner, President and CEO of Conn-Selmer. “Conn-Selmer will continue to develop our educational initiatives through our Division of Education and we wish K-State Marching Band the best of luck with the rest of their season.”

Vice President of Education, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser said, “The Division of Education understands how much time and effort is required to receive the esteemed Sudler Trophy and we want to personally congratulate Dr. Tracz and The Pride of Wildcat Land for their hard work and dedication.”
