Elkhart, IN - October 23, 2018 – The Conn-Selmer Division of Education announces Lawrence Technological University, Southfield Michigan, to its growing list of institutions who are part of the Conn-Selmer School Partnership Program. The program provides access to discounted instrument purchases and leasing, Conn-Selmer Educational Clinicians, instrument inventory assessment, and scholarships for both students and directors to attend The Conn-Selmer Institute - the preeminent annual event focused on advancing music education across the nation.
Conn-Selmer partnered with Lawrence Tech’s Director of Bands, Mr. Anthony Case, to facilitate this long- term partnership. Mr. Case has been the Director of Bands at LTU since July of 2013. He is credited for establishing the LTU Blue Devils Pep Band in the fall of 2013, the LTU Blue Devils Indoor Drumline in the fall of 2017, and 2018 is the inaugural year for the LTU Blue Devil Marching Band, Drumline, and Color Guard. Mr. Case commented, “With the expansion of our athletic program, Lawrence Technological University noted the importance of continuing to develop the music opportunities for our students, which led to the creation of the LTU Blue Devils Marching Band. In deciding which manufacturer to partner with for our instruments, we focused on these key characteristics: quality brands, commitment to excellence, cooperation opportunities, professionalism, expertise and most importantly building a better student experience. Conn-Selmer is known as a leader and innovator in music education. We are proud to be partnered with Conn-Selmer!”
Within the first five years, the Blue Devil Band has grown to over 50 student musicians and is continuing to grow with the expansion of the university. Through the continuous development of the athletic program, the university noted the importance of continuing to provide additional opportunities for students interested in music/band. Under the direction of Mr. Anthony Case, the Blue Devil Band now performs at men’s and women’s basketball games, hockey games, convocation, commencement, and many other university events. The musical legacy at Lawrence Technological University is ever growing, and the sky is the limit!
Conn-Selmer Educational Support Manager, Randy Greenwell commented, “We are thrilled to partner with Lawrence Technological University and Mr. Anthony Case, Director of Bands, in providing world class instruments for his students. Anthony is developing an exciting program at Lawrence, and the growth of the marching band as well as the rest of the band program has been phenomenal. We look forward to supporting the Lawrence Technological University Band program for years to come and are excited to see the many great things they will accomplish in providing collegiate students with world class experiences.”
