Elkhart, IN — Conn-Selmer announces that former Director of Education Programs, Tom Bracy, has been appointed Director of Urban Education and Educational Support Manager for the Central Region of the U.S. In this dual role, Tom will assist urban districts nationwide with their arts plans while also supporting Conn-Selmer’s educational initiatives throughout the Midwest.
Tom began his career as a band director for the Archdiocese of Chicago. While continuing as a band director for nearly 30 years, he also worked in other capacities throughout the Chicago area. These positions included a 13-year tenure with Merit School of Music, a Chicago-based community music school. While at Merit, Tom served as executive director, faculty member, director of operations, acting director of development, director of human resources and chief operating officer. Before joining Merit, Tom was executive director of the Association for Catholic Music Education and also worked for the Chicago Park District as an area manager for North Side neighborhood parks.
“It’s all about the kids!” says Tom. “These new roles will help our Division of Education cultivate new relationships and ultimately foster greater access to music education for cities everywhere.”
Tom joined Conn-Selmer in January, 2015 and has been a vital resource for the Conn-Selmer Division of Education. Conn-Selmer President and CEO, John Stoner, remarked, “Tom's connection with Chicago, which recently adopted a citywide cultural arts plan, the Chicago Public Schools network, and his experience in the non-profit sector uniquely qualify him for these new positions.” “Tom and the rest of our Division of Education team are ready to assist districts across the country with resources to build, enhance, and sustain quality music education across the globe.”
