Randy Greenwell, Educational Support Manager for the Central Region, has recently joined the Conn-Selmer team after a 32-year career as a music educator.
Randy spent 24 years as Director of Bands and Chairman of the Performing Arts Department at Lawrence Central HS, Indianapolis, IN. Under his direction, the Lawrence Central Bands built a tradition of excellence and success. The Lawrence Central marching band won two Bands of America Grand National Championships, was an ISSMA Class A State Champion 4 times, and made 18 appearances as a Grand National Finalist, and 22 appearances as an ISSMA State Finalist. The marching band was also a 2001 Silver Shield Award Winner, and in 2005 was featured in Readers Digest as the best high school marching band in the country. In addition, the LC Marching Bands made national appearances in the 2005 Rose Parade and the 2006 Macy's Parade. The LC Wind Ensemble won 5 State Championships and was an ISSMA concert finalist every year since 1996. The Wind Ensemble also appeared at the Music For All National Concert Festival on two occasions and has performed at numerous IMEA Conferences as a featured ensemble.
Randy is an active DCI, BOA, and WGI judge, and has written and arranged for many bands across the United States. He maintains an active schedule as a trumpet performer with the Heartland Big Band and has presented numerous clinics at conventions on a wide range of educational topics. In 2000, Randy was awarded the Phi Beta Mu "Indiana Outstanding Band Master of the Year Award" and in 2001, was named a "Distinguished Citizen of Indianapolis" by Mayor Bart Peterson. Randy is available for clinics and consultation on numerous aspects of music education and looks forward to assisting directors and programs to attain their desired goals.
